Scholarship Competition Information
The Executive Board of the Orange County Colony of the California Society of Mayflower Descendants proudly announces the 2025-26 scholarship program for students attending college (undergraduate or graduate level students) or a graduating high school senior, who are either a member or have a direct lineage connection or share a bloodline (i.e. child, grandchild, niece/nephew, grandniece/nephew, cousin) to a member of the Orange County Colony Mayflower Descendants who is in good standing for at least one year as of the date of the application.
The Orange County Colony awards three scholarships each year to qualified applicants:
First Place: $1,600
Second Place: $1,200
Third Place: $700

The due date for the 2026 applications to be submitted is March 1, 2026. Winners will be recognized at the April 2026 annual meeting, as well as the November 2026 Compact Day meeting.

The California State Society of Mayflower Descendants 2026
Scholarship Competition Information:
The California Mayflower Society awards three scholarships each year to qualified applicants: one $5,500 scholarship, one $3,500 scholarship, one $2,500 scholarship and one $1,000 scholarship. This is a statewide competition, open to any High School Senior (2025-2026 school year) who are descendants from a passenger on the Mayflower. Applications must either be a member of the California Mayflower Society or a descendant from a parent, grandparent, or aunt/uncle, etc. who is a living member from the California State Society. A qualified student does not need to reside in California.
Essay Subject: "Pilgrims and Native People: A Legacy of Encounter and Consequence" - Investigate the complex relationships between Mayflower settlers and indigenous communities.
Requirements:
Completed Application
Personal essay (not to exceed 500 words)
Two letters of Recommendation: Academic & Character

The General Society of Mayflower Descendants 2026
Scholarship Competition Information:
Now Accepting Applications: Deadline for the 2026 Scholarship Program is March 1st, 2026
There are 4 Scholarships offered by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants each year. Scholarships will be awarded as follows:
$6,000 First Place, $5,000 Second Place and $4,000 Third Place as well as a $3,000 Mary Chilton Winslow Scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is a Mayflower descendant and will be attending a four-year college or university or two-year community college.
This is a national competition open to any qualified student applicant from any state or colony.
The due date for the 2026 applications to be submitted is March 1, 2026. Please visit the General Society's Scholarship page for more details.
If any documentation needs to be submitted to GSMD to obtain a current GSMD membership number, applicants should begin work as early as possible with the Mayflower Historian in their state of residence to complete this process.
You will be required to list your Mayflower Ancestor(s) from the ship.
